The last hospital in Lawrence County, Ohio, shuttered its doors years ago, but there are medical centers spread throughout the county that provide those who live here, and anyone else in the Tri-State, the opportunity to receive high-quality medical care close to home.

Family Medical Centers operates six facilities from Ironton to Proctorville, offering a wide variety of services including primary family care, pediatrics, dentistry, and behavioral health. The medical professionals who serve the organization come from many backgrounds, but all believe in the mission of treating patients like family.

“We address things better than a hospital I think,” says Dr. Sue Adams, a Doctor of Osteopathy and Director of Medicine for the Family Medical Centers. “We know our patients, we know the families. I spend more time with them than I do at my own home, my patients are my family and I really, truly want the very best for my patients.”

To drive home the importance of family, Family Medical Centers recently unveiled its new tagline, “Just like family, we’ll take care of you.” Dr. Adams, and every other medical professional she works with takes that to heart every day. Many of the organization’s providers are from the Tri-State, and those who aren’t have made it their home.
